A New Beginning, A Tribute to the One We Miss

On April 11, 2025, at 1:38 pm, our family welcomed a new light into this world—Miss Kinsley-Cole.

She arrived healthy, beautiful, and surrounded by love. Her tiny hands, her perfect little cry, her peaceful presence—every bit of her felt like a gift sent straight from heaven. But it’s her name that carries something even deeper. Her name, Kinsley- Cole, is a tribute to her uncle—our missing piece, our forever protector, our Cole.

He should have been here. He should have been the one to hold her first, to make her laugh, to spoil her endlessly. But even though he’s not physically with us, his presence was felt in that delivery room. His name lives on through her, a constant reminder of who he was and how much he is loved.

As we hold this precious new life in our arms, we find ourselves caught between two worlds. One where life continues—where babies are born, birthdays are celebrated, and the world keeps turning. And one where we’re still frozen in time, waiting, hoping, praying for answers… for Cole.

We live forward because we must. Because Bentley still asks about his daddy. Because the babies keep growing. Because Cole would want us to. But that doesn’t mean we’ve moved on—not even close. We are still searching. Still holding onto faith. Still aching with the heaviness of not knowing.

Kinsley-Cole’s birth is a bright moment in the darkest of journeys. She is proof that love continues to grow, even in the face of heartbreak. She is living, breathing legacy—his name spoken again and again in joy, in hope, in remembrance.

To our sweet Kinsley-Cole: you carry a name full of strength, love, and light.

To our beloved Cole: we will never stop looking. Never stop fighting. Never stop loving you.

And to everyone reading this—hold your people tight. Say their names. Speak your truth.

Because every day matters. Every soul matters. And love, always, finds a way to live on.

With all our hearts,

Cole’s Family

A man wearing a hat is hugging a woman who is smiling

A year ago today marked the last time I saw Cole, hugged him, and told him I loved him. I didn’t know it would be the last time. I didn’t know life as I knew it was about to change forever.
